چکیده
Touch MEdical MEdia Safe and effective cataract surgery is the goal for both patients and surgeons, with increasing demands for accurate refractive outcomes. Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) is arguably the most significant change to cataract surgery since phacoemulsification, the adoption of which is in large part fueled by the desire for more precise and safe surgery with more predictable outcomes. In the past two years, the use of femtosecond laser systems has increased dramatically. An estimated 250,000 surgeries have been performed with these systems. One of the earliest and most-studied laser systems is the LenSx® Laser system (Alcon Laboratories, Inc., Aliso Viejo, California). The purpose of the current review is to update the reader on the most recent innovations of the LenSx® Laser system and the latest studies discussing clinical results.

Comparative analysis of the performance of two different platforms for femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery
PURPOSE To analyze and compare the intraoperative and postoperative outcomes of cataract surgery performed with two different femtosecond laser platforms. METHODS Randomized controlled prospective intraindividual comparative study including 90 eyes of 45 patients aged between 61 and 86 years. All eyes underwent bilateral cataract surgery assisted with femtosecond laser technology. Eyes were r...
متن کاملFlap thickness in femtosecond laser.
Recently, new femtosecond laser platforms have been developed to perform both corneal LASIK flaps and femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery. For this reason, we read with great interest the article by Juhasz et al.,1 which was the first study to evaluate the visual outcomes and flap thickness accuracy of the new LenSx multifunctional femtosecond laser system (Alcon Laboratories, Fort Wort...
متن کاملUpdate and clinical utility of the LenSx femtosecond laser in cataract surgery
The introduction of femtosecond lasers to cataract surgery has been the major disruptive technology introduced into ophthalmic surgery in the last decade. Femtosecond laser cataract surgery (FLACS) integrates high-resolution anterior segment imaging with a femtosecond laser allowing key steps of cataract surgery to be performed with computer-guided laser accuracy, precision, and reproducibility...
متن کاملPaediatric Cataract Extraction Utilizing the LenSx® Femtosecond Laser
Paediatric cataracts are a relatively common (1 to 15 per 10,000 children), but treatable worldwide morbidity [1]. Unfortunately, surgical intervention in children is often more difficult and associated with more complications than in adult patients. The surgical difficulty of Paediatric cataract extraction can be attributed to the increased elasticity of the lens capsule as well as decreased s...
متن کاملAnterior segment OCT imaging after femtosecond laser cataract surgery.
PURPOSE To report the anterior segment imaging characteristics after femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery. METHODS Cataract surgery was performed with the LenSx femtosecond laser (Alcon-LenSx Inc., Aliso Viejo, CA) in 40 eyes of 40 patients. The laser was programmed to perform a 4.5-mm capsulorhexis, a cross-pattern fragmentation of the nucleus, a 2.8-mm main incision, and a 1.0-mm sid...
